(1) Chopstick Making Experience
Using a planer made in Tsubame-Sanjo, visitors can make two types of chopsticks in one hour: square chopsticks made of cedar and octagonal chopsticks made of ironwood.
(2) Spoon making experience
Using a rare wood, “sandalwood,” and making full use of opportunities actually used by craftsmen, you can create one of your own original spoons.

Mr. Masato Hatakeya of “Ai Niwa,” a Sanjo City-based company, will be invited as an instructor to make a large moss ball of deciduous wood while sharing stories about nature and the local community. A sandalwood moss ball stand made from scrap wood will also be given as a gift. (Time required: 1 hour)

Ms. Takako Kinebuchi, a mizuhiki artist from Niigata Prefecture, will be our lecturer to make mizuhiki chopstick rests.
(2) Chopstick making experience
Using a plane made in Tsubame-Sanjo, participants will make two kinds of chopsticks in one hour: square chopsticks made of cedar and octagonal chopsticks made of ironwood.
(3) Moss ball making experience

Notes & Rules

KOUBA Tours and Experiences have age and clothing restrictions. Please be sure to read the following in advance.

In KOUBA

Those under junior high school age must be accompanied by a guardian. (Please refrain from attending if you are a preschooler.)

Those under the drunkenness of alcohol are not allowed to participate.

Please follow the instructions of the staff in KOUBA.

Please never touch the equipment or products in KOUBA.

Smoking is completely prohibited in KOUBA.

Before taking photos, please get permission from each KOUBA staff. And, please refrain from using flash.

In advance, please check reservations is required or not.

KOUBA has a limited capacity, so if you have more than 10 people, please contact each KOUBA in advance.

About clothes

Please wear clothing that is no problem even if it gets dirty and shoes that are easy to move.

Please refrain from wearing sandals, high heels, platform shoes, etc. They may cause you falling.

Please refrain from wearing skirts or baggy clothing as there is a risk of getting caught in the machine.

Visit by car

When coming to KOUBA by car, please use each KOUBA parking area or a nearby temporary parking area.

Please note that you may not be able to use the parking area if it is full.

If you do not follow the rules above, we may refuse your participation. Additionally, the organizer and each KOUBA will not take any responsibility for any accidents caused by your fault within the factory.
